Roberta Griffith and William A. Woods were married at Dec. 28 on the Hanalei Beach Resort lawn in Princeville.
The double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Glenn Frazier, minister of Church of the Pacific in Princeville. The groom wore a traditional Aloha shirt and the bride wore a turquoise/slate gray chiffon slip dress with spaghetti straps and an asymmetric hemline, and matching satin sandals. She carried a bouquet of lavender and white calla lilies accented with ivory satin ribbon.
The reception dinner for immediate family and friends in attendance at the wedding was held at Sabella’s in Pali Ke Kua Resort. Members of the bride’s family present were the bride’s sister, Jane, and husband, Richard Hiss, of Keowee, S.C., and her son, David Schillmoeller, of Tokyo. Also attending were Makami Okano, of Tokyo, Paul and Diane Enright, of Tuscon, Ariz., and Laurel Randolph of Princeville.
The bride is an artist who teaches ceramics and drawing at a private liberal arts college in the eastern United States. She is the Arkell Hall Foundation Endowed Chair Professor of Art and Professor of Art and Art History at Hartwick College, Oneonta, N.Y.
The groom is twice retired. He took early retirement from First Bank of Albuquerque, N.M., to settle in Princeville in 1989. Then, after 12 years of North Shore landscaping management, he retired from Kauai Landscape & Nursery in Puhi.
The newlyweds will reside in Princeville and Otego, N.Y.
