HONOLULU — Two 18-year-old women killed in a traffic accident along Windward O‘ahu were identified by family members yesterday as Leshay Gusman and Whitney Fergerstrom.
The women were thrown from a sport utility vehicle that crossed the center line of Kapa‘a Quarry Road and crashed into a pickup truck Thursday night, police said. One of the two had been driving the SUV, they said.
Three other passengers in the SUV — another 18-year-old women, a 19-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl — were hospitalized. The two men in the truck — a 28-year-old driver and his 35-year-old passenger — were also taken to the hospital.
Gusman and Fergerstrom graduated from Kamehameha Schools last year.
Gusman was a boarder student from Kaua‘i, and Fergerstrom was a boarder student from the Big Island.
They both lived on O‘ahu and were currently enrolled in the University of Hawai‘i system, officials said.
