Apollo Kaua‘i has at least one powerful person in its corner for the upcoming Reduce, Reuse & Recycle conference: County Councilwoman JoAnn Yukimura.
Yukimura, Apollo Kaua‘i and others are focusing on sustainable approaches to achieve zero waste on the island the weekend of Feb. 2-3.
National experts will provide free updates on recycling and solid-waste management.
The conference starts Feb. 2 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and continues Feb. 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Both sessions are at Kaua‘i Community College’s Performing Arts Center.
Lunch will be provided Saturday, amid an all-day workshop on how to create a community system on Kaua‘i that supports the Three Rs: Reduce, Reuse & Recycle.
