HONOLULU — Early registrants for the 35th Honolulu Marathon will receive a souvenir ChampionChip timing chip for their entry fee.
The chip and a limited amount of free gifts will be available starting Saturday, the first day early walkup registration will take place for the marathon on Dec. 9.
Early registration will continue until Jan. 28 at Niketown in Waikiki.
The entry fee for all Hawai‘i residents and military personnel stationed in Hawai‘i is $20 and includes the commemorative ChampionChip timing chip. This chip laces into the runner’s shoe and interfaces with timing mats along the route to produce a precise timing record of the run.
Early registrants can purchase tickets to the Honolulu Marathon’s Luau/Concert at the Waikiki Shell on Dec. 7 for $20.
Each registrant will be entitled to purchase up to six companion tickets for the same price.
The Luau/Concert, Hawai‘i’s largest catered event, will include an all-you-can-eat dinner as well as top Hawai‘i entertainment followed by internationally-recognized performers.
Registration will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
The Honolulu Marathon was Hawai‘i’s largest participatory sporting event in 2006 with 24,575 finishers in the marathon and 4,888 in the event’s concurrent 10-kilometer Race Day Walk.
The Honolulu Marathon was America’s third largest marathon last year and the world’s sixth largest.
