U.S. Sen. Daniel K. Akaka announced earlier this week the appointment of a former news producer for KHON-TV as his new press secretary.
Jesse Broder Van Dyke, who produced KHON’s “World Report with Joe Moore” and contributed to its morning show as coordinating producer, will replace Donalyn Dela Cruz.
“I am honored and privileged to have this opportunity to work for Sen. Akaka in Washington, D.C.,” the former evening assignment editor said in a statement. “I look forward to being a reliable resource for the media in Hawai‘i and Washington.”
A graduate of Boston University’s College of Communications, Broder Van Dyke was born and raised on O‘ahu and graduated from Punahou School.
Dela Cruz plans to return to Hawai‘i to take a job with Honolulu marketing and communications firm PMCI Hawaii.
