From now through Christmas Eve, TGI will share stories of families who could use a little holiday cheer along with an appeal for monetary donations of any size. The names have been changed to protect their privacy. Funds raised will be distributed to needy families by Zonta Club members, who purchase gift certificates at appropriate businesses to help make these simple wishes come true.
Because of logistical limitations, only monetary donations can be accepted. Gift certificates and used or new items, while appreciated, should not be submitted.
Gifts of food and clothing would ensure Amanda’s happiness
Amanda lives on a fixed income. Her only daughter lives on the Mainland and she has no other relatives on Kaua‘i.
She suffers from hearing impairment and dementia, and while not confined to a wheelchair, Amanda has some difficulty being ambulatory.
She needs Ensure, food and clothing. She is a very humble and shy lady but her holiday season would be much happier if she received these basic items.
Homeless family could use gift certificates
Tami is a single mother of four children ranging from ages 2 months to 9 years. The family is currently homeless and Tami is unemployed.
She really wants to be able to provide a good first Christmas to her two-month-old.
The family would truly be thankful for gift certificates for food and clothing this holiday season.
Little left over after prescriptions paid for
Apo Tibuc and Apo Bostonia have multiple illnesses, like foot problems, bad backs and high blood pressure. They both take a lot of prescription drugs, which use up most of their monthly income. Their lives would be so much more comfortable if they had a commode, walker and a bathing chair. Any of these items would be gratefully received.
