HONOLULU — Though Gov. Linda Lingle officially files papers to run for re-election today at 10 a.m., she named a key piece of her campaign team yesterday, appointing Alton T. Kuioka as finance chair.
The Bank of Hawai‘i director will be responsible for funding the governor’s bid for a second term, mobilizing community leaders and the Republican party.
“He brings years of talent and expertise that will make a positive difference in the campaign,” Lingle said in a press release. “Alton and his team understand the importance of transparency and integrity as it relates to our campaign finances, and will help us continue the job we started three and a half years ago.”
Kuioka has also served as Bank of Hawai‘i’s vice chair of client relations since 1994.
The Honolulu native received a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Hawai‘i and graduate degrees from the Mortgage Banking School in Chicago, the Advanced Management Program of the University of Hawai‘i and the Advanced Management Program of Harvard Business School, the release states.
Kuioka is also the director and treasurer of the Pacific Housing Assistance Corporation and the director and chairman of the Hawai‘i Community Reinvestment Corporation, and he sits on the board of the State of Hawai‘i’s Retirement System, the Diamond Head Theatre and the March of Dimes Chapter of the Pacific.
