Visiting Ikaika Basketball ruled the court at Kalaheo Neighborhood Center for the Kaua‘i Youth Basketball Association’s Girls Basketball Invitational title on Tuesday.
The O‘ahu squad nailed down the Kona Tigers, 37-18, behind nine points from Ashley Yamachika and eight apiece from Rayna Munos and Maria Colon.
Phoebe Del Rosario (nine points) and Danielle Bean (five points) paced the Tigers.
The Kaulupono Girls aced Gee’s Angels, 54-25, thanks to the combined efforts of Joanna Andres (13 points), Aiko Grande (12 points) and Sera Pascual (10 points). Justin Holt led the Angels with nine points.
In the consolation contest, the Pio Pio Bears nudged Wailua, 47-19.
Kamie Imai poured in 20 points for the Bears. Kira Nakamura chipped in with five to lead Wailua.
Team Central grabbed seventh place with a 44-11 bashing of Kilauea. Sanoe Keli‘inoi led Central with 16 points. Darlene Jarquio paced Kilauea with six.
Tournament MVPs included Sanoe Keli‘inoi (Team Central), Kimberly Evans (Kilauea), Aiko Grande (Kaulupono Girls), Justin Holt (Gee’s Angels), Kamie Imai (Pio Pio Bears), Jondi Das (Wailua), Ashley Yamachika (Ikaika Basketball) and Danielle Bean (Kona Tigers).
In Monday’s games, the Bears defeated Team Central, 53-37. Leilani Tuani-Fifita netted 21 points in the win and Keli‘inoi scored 16 points for Central.
Ikaika Basketball eased past Kaulupono, 40-37.
Yamachika tallied 19 points and Jayme Jacinto added 14 in the loss.
Jondi Das led Wailua to the 30-13 victory over Kilauea.
Das put up 11 points and Kimberly Evans led Kilauea with four points.
Kona doused Gee’s Angels, 45-30, behind 14 points from Danielle Bean.
Kristle Henry added eight in the loss.
