The event, held on the campus of Kamehameha Schools-Kapalama, was a personal playground for Ikeda-Simao, who clocked in at 12.76 in the 100 final and 26.14 in the 200. She also finished seventh in the long jump (16-05.25).
Teammate Chelsea Smith-Wishard grabbed a couple of fourth place finishes in the 800 and 1,500.
Smith-Wishard crossed at 2:24.50 in the 800 and 5:04.37 in the 1,500.
Red Raider up and coming distance runner Tara McCoy placed 10th in the 3,000 (11:26.88).
The Kaua‘i girls 4×100 relay team (Jamilee Jimenez, Ikeda-Simao, Allison Arakaki, Emma Makepa-Foley) earned a bronze medal (51.28).
Kaua‘i’s Savannah Rollins and Jimenez tied for a gold medal with nine other girls in the high jump at 4-10. Kapa‘a’s Erin Pickett was disqualified because her shirt came untucked from her shorts during an attempt.
Kapa‘a’s Loke Manaku garnered a ninth place showing in the discus (107-3).
Waimea’s Kenny Estes is the third fastest prep runner in the state with a third place finish in the 100 meters (11.40).
The Menehune senior also finished up in sixth place in the 200 (23.17). Kapa‘a’s Joe Locey still holds the meet record with a 21.90 back in 2004.
Waimea’s Nathan Martin carded a fifth place run in the 3,000 meters (9:39.63).
Waimea’s claim of the boys 4×100 meter relay event ended, as the two-time defending state champs fell in the finals with a no time.
The Menehune still hold the meet record (Thomas Batis, Eric Oroc, Estes, Troy Yamase) with a time of 42.78 in 2005.
Waimea’s Chris Newcomb now owns a gold medal in the high jump, along with 14 other athletes, who tied with a 5-10 in the finals.
Waimea’s Kollin Morikawa ended with the ninth best jump in the state in the triple jump (41-05.75).
Kapa‘a’s Nathaniel Langi took a seventh place finish in the discus throw (143-02).
