Rummage, bake sale set
Leaders of the Qi Center in the old Immaculate Conception School in Isenberg Tract subdivision in Lihu’e are planning a rummage and bake sale April 29 from 8 a.m. to noon at the center, they said in a press release.
Healthy snacks and fresh-baked cookies will be offered for sale and sampling.
Members of at least 100 families are participating with donated treasures.

Pu‘uwai children’s canoe-paddling begins
The Pu‘uwai Canoe Club’s children’s outrigger canoe-paddling program is set to begin Monday at 3 p.m. on the Wailua River, club leaders said in a press release.
The program is for those ages 12 to 18, and no previous paddling experience is required.
The club supplies canoes, paddles and instruction.

Koloa group seeks cheerleading coaches
Leaders of the Koloa Pop Warner football association are accepting applications from those interested in being cheerleading coaches for the 2006-07 season.

KIUC board meeting scheduled for Tuesday
The regular meeting of the Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative board of directors is Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the KIUC main conference room on the first floor of the Hana Kukui Building, 4463 Pahee St., Lihu‘e, a KIUC official said in a press release.

Miss Kauai Filipina fashion show is today
Contestants in the annual Miss Kauai Filipina scholarship pageant are expected to parade across the Kukui Grove Center stage today at 5:30 p.m., in a fashion show.
The pageant is the first weekend of May at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall, part of an expanded weekend of events associated with the ongoing celebration of the arrival of the first Filipinos in Hawai‘i 100 years ago.
Also today at Kukui Grove Center, the Aloha Friday on the Mall program of live entertainment features the Starlighters performing live, big-band music from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Tomorrow from 10:30 a.m. to noon is the second part of the Filipino centennial karaoke contest, with the Sassy and GMAG magazine representatives on hand and the Kauai Food Bank food and fund drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
At Kukui Grove Center, youngsters from the magazines will be at center stage from noon to 1:30 p.m. to talk about teen events, the magazines, and more. On Monday is a farmers’ market on the mall, at 3 p.m. in the parking lot near Sears. Natural Harmony takes the stage at the April 28 Aloha Friday on the Mall event, at 7 p.m.
Kalua pig sale Saturday is Relay for Life fundraiser
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kalaheo Ward Relay For Life team will be having a kalua pig sale tomorrow at the church on Kaumuali‘i Highway from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
People may contact Caryn, 246-6919, for pre-orders, or pick up at the Kalaheo church, organizers said in a press release.
