KAPA’A — Matthew Heiler finished with a hat trick and an assist to lead the Panthers to an 8-5 win over the Piranhas for the championship of the Bantam Division Sunday.
Heiler, who scored the two opening goals for the Panthers, closed the book with the eighth goal with 11:13 showing on the clock.
Heiler also provided the assist for Jean-Luc Tremblay who broke a 5-5 halftime stalemate less than 30 seconds into the second half.
Tremblay finished with two goals in the win.
Chatson Barrett contributed a goal and an assist, and goals from Brandon Taylor and Austin Taylor figured in the victory that came after the Panthers held the Piranhas scoreless throughout the second half.
Trailing 3-1, the Piranhas deadlocked the contest 3-3 on a goal by Kawai Peahu that came at the 7:18 mark only to have Barrett answer for the Panthers at the 6:34 mark.
Cidney Sitzler answered with two quick goals to give the Piranhas a 5-4 edge at the 2:09 and 2:00 mark respectively.
But the Panthers were not done as Brandon Taylor deadlocked the match at the :49 mark on an assist by Barrett.
Sierra Mayer finished with two goals and an assist to lead the Piranhas’ effort with Sitzler adding two goals and Peahu chalking up a goal.
Panthers goalie Kiana Tremblay finished with 43 saves on 48 shot attempts, while Piranhas goalie Soane Latunupulu had 11 saves on 16 first half shot attempts.
