KIF track and field will be in full force tomorrow at Vidinha Stadium. Last week, many KIF athletes headed off to O’ahu for the annual Velasco Invitational, which caused last week Friday’s qualifying meet to be a small event.
Standout performers at the second qualifier included Kapa’a’s Nahtice Nield, who stroked away a state time in the 300-meter hurdles and Waimea’s Kenny Estes, who improved his state time in the 200-meter dash.
Kapa’a’s Erin Pickett took advantage of the slimmed-down field, with top finishes in the 800 meter run, high jump, and triple jump.
Waimea’s Marc Oroc and Anson Acain picked up multiple wins, with Oroc conquering the 300-meter hurdles and the 110-meter hurdles. Acain showed his impeccable strength with top throws in the shot put and discus throw.
Results of the KIF’s second qualifying meet can be found in the scoreboard on page B2.
The KIF’s third qualifying meet is scheduled for tomorrow at 4 p.m. at Vidinha Stadium.
