Now might just be the perfect time to plan a North Shore getaway.
And, if nerves are frazzled, muscles are tight and achy and Kauaians feel the need for a bit of pampering, there is a place right off the highway in Ha‘ena that might be just the tonic.
Owners and operators of Hanalei Day Spa, located off Kuhio Highway at the Hanalei Colony Resort in Ha‘ena, offer a variety of spa services designed for individuals, couples, bridal parties and ladies’ groups, including a new “Ladies’ Spa Party” that provides private use of the spa facilities for treatments, plus refreshments.
“The Ladies’ Spa Party was designed for bridal parties who want to have exclusive use of the spa facility for a few hours of pampering,” says Darci Frankel, owner of Hanalei Day Spa.
“But any small group of ladies would enjoy this package, sisters, mothers and daughters, friends, birthday parties or showers. It’s a great opportunity for the girls to spend some time together in a relaxing and nurturing environment.” The Ladies’ Spa Party is available for groups consisting of at least five women, with a minimum booking of $200 in treatments per person.
Private use of the facility will be available for the duration of the treatments, which must be consecutive.
For an additional fee, refreshments such as a tropical fruit and cheese platters and herbal teas can be provided in the cozy reception area of the spa, furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs.
Hanalei Day Spa features three private treatment rooms, two bathrooms with showers, and an outdoor oceanfront massage hale, a traditional Hawaiian, thatched-roof hut.
The practitioners at Hanalei Day Spa are licensed massage therapists, estheticians and nail technicians who are experienced in a wide variety of spa services, healing specialties and massage techniques, Frankel said in a press release.
In addition to massages, the spa practitioners offer body scrubs using aromatic and exotic ingredients such as lavender, mandarin orange and ylang ylang; body wraps including algae and mud wraps designed to detoxify, nourish the skin or target cellulite; facials; body waxing; scalp treatments; manicures and pedicures.
Services are offered for men, women, or for couples to enjoy together.
The spa’s popular Couples’ Massage provides a one-hour massage for two, side-by-side in the couples treatment room, or outdoors in the thatched beachside massage hale, with two massage therapists for $165 ($175 for beachside).
Couples can also indulge in the Couples Deluxe treatment, with each receiving a one-hour massage, body-wrap treatment and tropical fruit smoothie or herbal tea for $400.
A number of other spa packages are available, and can be customized and combined to suit the individual’s needs. Hanalei Day Spa also offers an all-levels yoga class on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30 a.m.
Frankel is a licensed massage therapist, and is also certified in Ayurveda, the ancient science of health and healing from India.
Frankel has been practicing yoga for nearly 30 years, and has taught yoga for 14 years.
In addition, Frankel has been practicing Ayurvedic medicine for over 10 years. She offers customized Pancha Karma rejuvenation retreats, as well as yoga-retreat programs for individuals, couples or groups.
The spa is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (hours may change seasonally).
Advance reservations for the Ladies’ Spa Party are required. Advance appointments are recommended for other services, as well, although walk-ins are welcome, subject to availability of therapists.
