KILAUEA — Cody Abigania finished with a game-high 17 points for Wailua, but the effort fell short as Eastside pulled away in the second half for a 40-26 win.
That was the first of three games played in the county’s 14 and Under boys basketball league at the Kilauea Neighborhood Center Wednesday night.
Alex LaMadrid, playing hard on both sides of the ball, topped the Eastside win with a dozen points followed by B.J. Melchor adding eight points.
Davin Chong graced Abigania’s lead with seven points for Wailua.
Silas Tacsiat asserted himself at the hoop for C-Town in their 40-23 showing against Southside in the second contest.
Despite several adjustments by Southside throughout the contest, the black-shirted C-Towners dominated the floor and boards in the first half.
Tacsiat finished with 10 points followed a digit back by Koa Colipano adding nine points in the win.
Hino Kanahele led the South-side effort with 12 points followed by Jared Matsumoto chipping in three.
Sheldon Sakai and Kyson Curammeng each finished with 10 points to lead the Lihu’e Enforcers to a 57-27 finale against Papalina. Joshua Largusa added nine points in the win.
Mikeo Rita and Micah Rita each finished with six points to lead the Papalina effort with Brandon Scovel finishing with five points.
Justin Ramos, Kekoa Prem, and Thomas Gausepol each netted 10 points as the Gee Unit A squeaked past Laukona 44-43 in an overtime affair Thursday night at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Due to the rains and concern for safety, the Gee Unit B against the Lihu’e Bloodline, and the Eastside versus Hanapepe games were both called off.
Those games will be rescheduled at a later date.
