An ecology walk, with discussions about ferns and non-vascular plants including lichens, mosses, and liverworts, will be held at Koke‘e State Park Friday.
The event begins at 8:30 a.m. at the old Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp, according to a press release.
Participants will learn about the ecology of these organisms and the micro-habitats that support the amazing biodiversity of life found at Koke‘e.
Jay Scelza, a naturalist and lichenologist from Oregon, leads the walk, which also includes a service project.
The event is sponsored by Hui o Laka’s Koke‘e Resource Conservation Program.
