Hanalei’s Andy and Bruce Irons surely go overboard when thinking about giving back to the community in which they grew up.
And Saturday will be just another example of their gratitude for Kaua‘i and their many friends.
The 5th Annual Irons Brothers Pine Trees Classic heads to Hanalei on Saturday for another installment of hanging out with groms, signing autographs, and of course, some surfing.
“It just keeps getting bigger and bigger every year,” Andy and Bruce’s mom, Danielle Irons, said at last year’s event.
The start time for the contest is 8 a.m., with youths aged 6-12 surfing for lots of goodies from sponsors of the Irons Brothers.
There is no entry fee and forms may be picked up at Hanalei Surf Co., Kai Kane, Tamba Surf, Progressive Expressions, and Nukumoi Surf Co.
Divisions include Menehune 6-8, Boys 9-10, Boys 11-12, Girls 9-10, and Girls 10-11. The event is limited to the first 124 surfers, with no entries accepted at the beach. Also, the competition isn’t open to the top six rated HSF and NSSA surfers. For more information, call 338-1952.
