Congratulations to Waimea head coach Elton Montemayor and his staff and team for taking the KIF boys basketball championship Friday!
Russell Shimazu made the trip out from Lihu‘e and was enjoying the game next to Brandon Fujita’s dad; even saw Kapa‘a coach John Kaneholani in the audience. Hats off to Menehune AD Jon Kobayashi for making the event a real championship.
Much mahalo to Ricky and Loreen Rita for all their help in the season … they were at every single game.
Hats off, too, to Robin Savage-Thompson and her Committee of the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i for a great Eat Dessert First event! Robin’s staff did a great job, and don’t worry, Pauline Ibia, Melinda Uohara was there so your class reunion has made the Koloa Plantation Days.
Was nice to see Zack and Marina Octavio who were able to enjoy some of the sweets, and Jasmine Quibilan (check out 2/10 issue of TGI) was there to check out what was available … she said she made her contribution on Thursday. Now, did anyone taste Walt Barnes’ cookies?
Meanwhile, it was Christmas on Valentine’s Day as Amy Christmas was just one of the vendors at the annual craft fair hosted by the Kaua‘i Products people in Po‘ipu … Larry Rivera made it back in time to do a show there along with Ilima Rivera and Kehaulani Kekua. Of course, the Frantastic Coffee people were totally lined all day so no time to wala‘au, and so were the Kilauea food people who did a smashing smoothie business.
Happy Valentine’s Day, Kaua‘i!
