Akaka, Case TV special airs today

United States Sen. Daniel Akaka, D-Hawai‘i, and U.S. Rep. Ed Case, D-Neighbor Islands-rural O‘ahu, appeared separately in the Public Broadcasting Service Hawaii Public Television studios in Honolulu recently to take a special edition of “Island Insights.” The show will air today at 3:30 p.m. on KHET, the PBS affiliate in Hawai‘i, which is channel 11 on the Oceanic Time Warner Cable system on Kaua‘i.

Mike McCartney, president and chief executive officer of PBS Hawaii, stated, “We are so proud and privileged to have Senator Akaka and Congressman Case on ‘Island Insights’ to discuss their upcoming political race for the United State Senate.

“This special represents our commitment to deliver timely, relevant, and thought-provoking quality programming to Hawai‘i’s people,” McCartney added.

“Important decisions about Hawai‘i’s future will be made through the election process this November, and we are pleased that these gentlemen decided to come to PBS, and even more pleased to be able to offer this special ‘Island Insights’ presentation.” Akaka taped his interview with “Island Insight” host Dan Boylan, and Case was interviewed by “Island Insight” host Richard Borreca.
