Husband-and-wife team Jeff and Rose Colon from Pure Life Ministries will be the speakers for a two-day Pure Life Conference, starting tonight, sponsored by the members of the Aloha Church in Lihu‘e.
The conference is split up for men and women.
The free conference today, hosted by Rose Colon at 7 p.m. at the church across Kaumuali‘i Highway from Kukui Grove Center, is for women.
The conference tomorrow, with Jeff Colon, starts at 8:30 a.m., and lasts till 3 p.m., is for the men. The conference fee for Saturday is $20 per man, and includes a book, lunch, and coffee breaks.
The duo will be sharing with their respective groups how their personal experiences with desperation brought them to make changes in their lives. Both have degrees in biblical counseling from the Master’s Graduate School of Divinity, in Evansville, Ind.
Rose Colon is the director of women’s counseling for Pure Life Ministries.
“I was into drinking, partying, and going to clubs. But I needed something different,” she said. “I will be sharing my testimony about my problems with my husband, and how I came to the Lord. From there, I will talk to them about how to maintain sexual purity.” On Saturday, Jeff Colon will be sharing his testimony with men.
“I was involved in prostitution, and I came to a place of desperation. I came to terms with God, and will share my testimony on how God helped me out of it,” he said.
The goal of the Pure Life Conference, according to a press release from members of the Aloha Church, is “to teach men and women how to live in purity by equipping them with biblical answers, and by bringing them in touch with the power of God.” “I’ll be going over things like how to avoid temptations in life, such as not going to certain places where there will be temptation,” Jeff Colon said. “(Those things) are not satisfying. It’s not what we need in life. I’ll share with them how to live a life that’s pleasing to God and honor their wives.” For more information on the conference, call 241-7177.
