A suspect has been detained in the killing of a 27-year-old woman found dead in a parked car Wednesday morning in ‘Ele’ele.
“We have detained a man but he has not been formally charged,” said Kaua’i Police Department Lt. Roy Asher. “We know the cause of death (of the woman) and it is being ruled a homicide.”
Emergency personnel responded to a residence in the area of Laulea and Paani streets in the lower ‘Ele’ele Nani subdivision after reports of an unresponsive female in a parked vehicle were called in around 11 a.m. One resident said the woman was in a white pickup truck.
Responding personnel found that the woman had died under suspicious circumstances and a homicide investigation was immediately launched. According to a KPD press release preliminary autopsy results have confirmed that foul play was a factor in the death.
The male suspect has not been named by the KPD until it is determined if charges will be filed. The identity of the woman who died is being withheld pending notification of the family.
