Gary Hirakawa of Kapa’a aced Wailua Golf Course’s 7th hole (158 yards) using his Titleist 8-iron on January 16. This was his first hole in one after 21 years of golfing.
Kamehameha alumni golf tournament
The Kamehameha Alumni Scholarship Golf Tournament tees off on Saturday, February 18 at the Puakea Golf Course (8 a.m. shotgun start).
Entry fee is $75 per person and includes green fees, golf cart, lunch, and prizes.
The format is three person scramble and if you don’t have a team, the committee will put you on a team.

14-and-under boys basketball registration
The County of Kaua’i, OCA- Recreation Agency would like to announce registration for any 14-and-under boys interested in participating in the upcoming youth basketball league. Registration will be held Feb. 1 to 3, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at all county neighborhood centers.
League fee will be $30 per participant. Checks or money orders must be made out to Director of Finance. For more information regarding this program, contact Clyde at 332-9770, or Aaron at 822-0511.
Kawaihau Little League opens Feb. 4
The Kawaihau Community Little League will be having opening day ceremonies on Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Kapa’a Little League Field, starting at 10 a.m.

Kaua’i Hoe Wa’a hosts third race on Sunday
YMCA Kauai Hoe Wa’a is hosting their third paddling race of the season at noon Sunday. Short course/ paddle board course is from Kukui’ula Small Boat Harbor to Port Allen. Long course from Makahu’ena to Port Allen. Registration for all is at 10 a.m. at Kukuiula Small Boat Harbor.

For the Rookies: Archie Fontanilla went 2 for 3, Walter Souza went 3 for 4, Mike Folster went 4 for 4, Raymond Espino and Hank Nishikawa went 2 for 2 with Nishikawa pocketing three RBI’s and a home run.
For West Kaua’i: Brian Kasparek and Maxie Moreno went 2 for 3 and Kasparek with a home run.

For K-Makule: Terrence Saito went 2 for 2, Paul Silva, Danny Smith and Doric Remata went 2 for 3.
