When Waimea and Kaua’i hit the court tonight at the Raiderdome, don’t be surprised if both squads play as if something is on the line, even if the Menehune have wrapped up the first round title.
The initial round finale is important for both teams, who are going in different directions.
The Menehune are looking to salvage their unblemished record and the Red Raiders are just trying to get back into the win column, after losing two straight contests.
If Kaua’i can surprise Waimea tonight with a victory, it will give the boys in red some much needed momentum as they head into the second round.
On the other hand, the Menehune can increase their stronghold on the rest of the league with a convincing win in Kaua’i’s house.
Come see the contest in person, starting at 5:30 p.m. with the JV contest. The varsity game begins 20 minutes after the completion of the JV battle.
You can also hear the game live on KQNG AM570, with Anahola Joe, starting around 7 p.m.
The KIF’s second round begins on Tuesday, with Kapa’a traveling to Waimea to face the Menehune.
