Twenty-two chorus students from Kaua‘i traveled to O‘ahu yesterday to participate in this year’s Hawaii High School All-State Honor Choir, one of them from Island School in Puhi, and 21 from Kaua‘i High School in Lihu‘e.
There, they joined more than 150 students from approximately 30 different public and private schools from across the state.
The students have been learning and practicing their music since last November, with music teachers David Conrad, Nina Saraos and Mary Alfiler.
They are to attend a clinic with Dr. Sharon J. Paul, associate professor of music and director of choral activities for the University of Oregon.
They will perform two concerts.
The first one will be tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the Brigham Young University Hawaii Campus, and the second on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Kawaiahao Church in Honolulu.
Forty-one Kaua‘i students auditioned for the choir last fall.
