It’s only January, and Jet Set Agency, owned and operated by Koloa-town’s Cindy Kauanui, is off to a good start.
Kauanui, whose modeling agency is currently based out of La Jolla, Calif., has signed papers to open a satellite office in Honolulu so she can maintain a stronger connection with her Hawai‘i clients, and has more major contracts in the works, she said.
Jet Set model/actress Sanoe Lake just signed a contract with the sunglass company Arnette to be the first female face for its new line of eyewear.
“They’ve never had a female on the Arnette team before,” Kauanui said. “They’re launching a new female line coming out next year, but they brought her on early.” Lake also renewed her contract with Billabong for another year, Kauanui said.
Fellow Jet Setter Sonya Balmores is currently in California working on scenes for her show “Beyond the Break.” The show was previously titled “Makaha Surf.” Balmores’ older sister Lila Metzger currently graces the cover of the January/February issue of Ala Moana Center magazine. She also wrapped up covers for Women’s Health and Outdoor magazines. Next up for her is a photo shoot for the men’s magazine Maxim.
Eighteen-year old Tori Praver from Maui is making the latest splash in the modeling industry. She replaces hotel heiress Paris Hilton as the face for the world line of designer label Guess? She follows in the footsteps of supermodels Claudia Schiffer and Anna Nicole Smith.
“We’re really excited,” Kauanui said. “Good things are happening for our girls.”
