The Fourth Annual Kokee Pig Hunt Tournament was a success thanks to all the hunters who entered and participated in the contest. We the organizers extend our deepest mahalo to all the sponsors who supported our tournament. This year we had 118 entrants, compared to last year’s 76 entries.
This year we had a total of 18 pigs officially weighed in the two-day hunting tournament. Congratulations to all of our winners in all categories. We hope to see you all again in next year’s tournament scheduled for Nov. 11 &12, 2006.
We are touched by your generosity and extend our warmest mahalo to our sponsors: Courtyard by Marriott Kauai at Waipouli Beach, Rasco Supply, Lawai General Store, Grand Hyatt Kauai, Keoki’s Paradise, Da Imu Hut, CJM Country Stables, Pioneer, Trenchless, Brennecke’s Beach Broiler, Tomkat’s Grill, Sushi Bushido, Dalife & Kauai ATV, Koloa Fishmarket, Ron’s Electric, Hi-Tech Automotive, Brick Oven Pizza, Kauai Veterans Express, Sueoka Store, Puhi Store, Regency at Puakea, Grinds Cafe, CV Enterprises, Dandi’s Service, CG’s Custom Prints, Kauai Sea Tours, Anheuser Busch, Waimea Plantation Cottages, Koke‘e Leaseholders Association, Paradise Beverages, Tunda, Red Dirt Shirts, Oceanic Time Warner Cable, Barefoot Burgers, Waipouli Variety, Da Booze Shop, Hui o Laka, Koke‘e Museum, Katie Cassel, Wayne Silva, Willie Sanchez, Dally Up, Vince Flores, Ishihara Market, Sticki Stuff, Lihue Appliances, Kauai Kookie Kompany, Gaspro, KJ’s II, Kauai Petroleum and Frito Lay.
I’d like to personally give my aloha to my volunteers: Jason and Kathy Visitacion, Cheryl Rego, Kris Taniguchi. Thank you for your hard work. To Eric Morris Sr., mahalo for making our free-standing frame for the scale and for your chef skills.
I also need to thank Dr. Susan Littler at Kauai Medical Group for letting me have my trick or treat early so I could attend the tournament. And mahalo to nurses Nikki, Maile, Sivitri, Dawn and the rest of the fourth-floor labor and delivery nurses.
But most of all, we all need to thank Eddie Taniguchi III. This man hustles hard for donations and prizes, all for the love of the sport of hunting, to perpetuate the skill of hunting that he was brought up doing to put food on the table. Eddie’s love for hunting is why this tournament exists. Love you cuz.
Mahalo to everyone
