Let the students decide
In response to Dr. Saker’s letter in the Garden Island on 11/7/05:
BOTH camps, Intellegent Design and evolution, are scientifically BOTH theories. Until there is more SCIENTIFIC proof for either side, we can keep arguing pointlessly. The problem is a lot of people talk about this without really understanding what ID is and just see it as a Bible-pushing fundamental Christian movement.
There’s a difference between ID and Creationism. You can believe in ID without adhering to the Biblical account of Genesis. Attacking the Genesis account doesn’t discredit the ID theory and is merely a smokescreen to the real argument.
I am a student. Instead of people throwing politics and personal motives into this, why not let the students in the classrooms decide? After all, that’s how this whole argument blew up into national proportions. I, for one, would like to be taught a balanced view of all theories concerning human origins, not just one theory.
This world is already too narrow-minded as it is.
