KAUA’I AND HAWAI’I BY THE NUMBERS

  • Can we now, finally, dispel the widely held rumor that the Friday after Thanksgiving, sometimes called “Black Friday” (for the day retail merchants sometimes first see a profit, or get into the black from the red), is not the busiest shopping day of the year? According to information from the International Council of Shopping Centers, the Friday after Thanksgiving has only been the busiest shopping day of the year one time over the last three years. The winners in 2004 and 2002 were the Saturdays immediately before Christmas. In those years, though, the Friday after Thanksgiving was second. Please see www.shoppertrak.com or www.icsc.org, for more information.
