The famous song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” by the Tokens was the theme song for the Kaua’i Jungle Chicks soccer squad.
The under-12 girls group from the AYSO’s region 941 took home the first place trophy because of their “sleep-less” efforts, which propelled them to the top.
The Jungle Chicks played a superb game on Friday at the Wailua Houselots Park. The girls were challenged by the awesome Pink Panther team. Both squads played hard, but in the end, the score was 1-0 in favor of the Jungle girls.
Kiarra Chong slipped in to score the only goal of the exciting contest.
A special mahalo goes out to coach Lynn Luttrell for her efforts and dedication to the girls.
Officials such as Kevin Gusman and all the volunteers, made the experience the best.
“To Raquelle Matayoshi, Lauren Spears, Ali Yamamoto, Anu Panui, Zai Lemn, and Elizabeth, and the rest of the gang. Good job Jungle Chicks, we’re so proud of all of you,” Dominique Matayoshi said.
