Kapa’a boys, Kaua’i girls run away with wins

The Warrior boys and Red Raider girls took home top honors at the last regular season meet of the season, held at Waimea High School.

This week Saturday is the KIF championship meet at Island School, starting at 4 p.m.

Both Chelsea Smith-Wishard of Kaua’i (19:33) and Waimea’s Scott Martin (16:39) dominated once again with impressive performances on their way to the top.

Martin eclipsed the 17 minute mark for the second week in a row and Smith-Wishard looks almost unstoppable on her way to another KIF individual title.

Kapa’a’s boys squad tallied 36 points, followed by Waimea with 37, Island with 49, Kula with 58, and Kaua’i with 96. However, Kula wasn’t eligible for the team title because of the lack of runners.

On the girls side, Kaua’i held onto 34 points, followed by Waimea at 42, Kapa’a at 56, Kula with 85, and Island with 130.
