junior Chelsea Smith-Waimea senior Scott Martin, who were both undefeated last season, started off this year with victories at Kula High and Intermediate on Saturday.

Smith-Wishard (21:25.99) saw familiar faces behind her, with Waimea’s Rachel Martin (22:50.66), Kapa’a’s Alex Pond (23:01.90), Kula’s Gillian Pickett (23:12.11), and Waimea’s Carolyn Hoeckman (24:16.04) rounding out the top five runners.
