A police officer and a truck driver were treated and released following an accident in front of the Coconut Marketplace in Waipouli last week, according to county sources.
Armando Frias-Moniz, of Kapa’a, was northbound on Kuhio Highway, when he lost control of the Ford Ranger he was driving.
He skidded across the roadway into the southbound lane, and struck the Kaua’i Police Department vehicle driven by Roland Peahu.
Peahu was on duty at the time of the accident.
Frias-Moniz and Peahu were both taken to Wilcox Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, treated, then released.
No other occupants were reported to be riding in the vehicles, said Mary Daubert, Kaua’i County public information officer.
An investigation of the accident is being conducted.
