Princeville needs center
As a mother of three young children and homeowner in Princeville, I strongly support the need for a new community facility. Princeville is one of the few communities on this island without an established community center. Our community needs a focal meeting place that could accommodate events such as birthday parties, arts and crafts, hula, fitness, or neighborhood meetings. My children and I use the park on a regular basis and understand the proposed center would only occupy 1-percent of the total park space. That’s a minimal amount of space when you consider all of the benefits the Center could offer.
I am concerned, however, by misinformation being circulated by those residents who do not support the center, specifically:
- The building is neither a residence nor a commercial facility. It will only be used by a not for profit organization and community center use.
- The General Contractor selected agreed to donate some of his time to building the center. If anyone else is willing to donate his/her time to build the facility, please come forward.
- The new building will not be in use 24 hours a day.
I strongly believe the Center will enhance Prince Albert. Our community is growing rapidly and the new center simply makes sense.
