LIHU’E — The stuffy Raiderdome played host to a host of great sets and two close matches last night in the KIF’s first round finales.
The Kaua’i girls were able to dismantle Waimea in five sets, 25-14, 19-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-10. Meanwhile in the boys contest, Waimea edged Kaua’i in three straight sets, 25-22, 25-22, 25-22.
Although the matches held no implications on the first-round standings, both squads played tough, inspiring ball.
Kapa’a’s boys and girls squads captured the KIF’s first round titles with 4-0 records.
The Warriors open up the second round against the Menehune on September 28.
