MANA — If you are one of the people that would like to see the drag race events continue at the Mana Raceway, the Garden Island Racing Association (GIRA) is interested in you.
GIRA officials announced at Sunday’s drag races that they are actively looking for Directors to help manage the club, its finances, the track, and the racing season.
“As a Director, you’ll have lots of help. The club has bylaws and policies in place, and we have a comprehensive packet of information documenting club operations,” they said.
Early in 2006, GIRA will host training programs that will teach and explain the functions of the Director in the performance of their duties and responsibilities.
Several of the Directors from the 2005 season will remain on the Board so new Directors can be assured of continuity.
Additionally, the GIRA has a strong core of volunteers and workers to help share the work of keeping everything operating.
For information about serving as a Director, interested people may contact Walt Barnes at 823-6246, Robert Hansen at 652-9993, or Allan Duldulao at 639-2688.
“Serving as a GIRA Director is a great way to help the racing community on Kaua‘i succeed,” Barnes said.
The curarent leadership of the GIRA has Chris Loew as president, Hansen as vice president, My Paden as Director, along with Duldulao, and Bill Turk.
