Both teams, garbed in red, battled in the semi-finals for the honor of meeting A‘iea who had earlier earned a slot in the championship game with a 12-4 win over Maui.
Mililani A had already shown what they could do as Christian Pascual laced a three-run RBI double in the fourth inning to give them a 4-0 advantage at the end of the frame.
The defensive slugfest continued until the seventh frame when Darius Anderson, finishing 1 for 3 in the batter’s box, delivered an RBI single that drove Keaka Fernandez across the plate.
A Mililani A miscue pushed Kim Donald across the plate, but the effort came a little too late as the Mililani players stiffened for the win.
Mililani A catcher Chase Yamada, relishing his homerun from Friday, finished 1-for-3 with Sheldon Milan going 2-for-3 as Mililani came up with nine hits in their win.
Along with Anderson, Kaimana Banis and Kalani Manoha each went 1-for-3 for the Makakilo-Kapolei.
Bryan Nakasone picked up the win for Makakilo A while Tre Goeas suffered the loss for Makakilo-Kapolei.
Earlier in the day, Miles Higa, finishing 5-for-5 in the batter’s box, came up with a two-run homer in the fourth inning to lead A‘iea to their 12-4 win over Maui.
Higa topped the A‘iea offensive effort with four RBI in their semi-final matchup and coupled his homerun with a pair of doubles.
James Higa, 3-5, also notched a two-bagger along with Royce Murai, 3-4, who pushed two RBI across the plate.
Leading Maui batters were Ikaika Ioane, 2-3, who finished with an RBI and a double. Keenan Kaluau, 2-4, and Layson Hoewa‘a, 1-3, also notched doubles. Regan Lum was credited with the win for A‘iea with Alika Aheong suffering the loss for Maui.
The results of Saturday’s semi-finals will pit A‘iea against Mililani A in the championship game that starts at 10 a.m. at the Lihu‘e County Park.
The West Kaua‘i all stars, despite a 9-7 win over Mililani B, Friday, did not make the final four along with the Lihu‘e all stars who suffered a 9-1 defeat at the hands of Mililani A in the Friday finale at the Lihu‘e County Park.
Mikeo Rita picked up the win for West Kaua‘i who cranked out 10 hits for their nine-run victory with Rita and Dallas Correa leading with 2-2 performances. Branden Scovel, 1-3, drove in a pair of runs, and Chyson Goias finished 1-2.
Mililani B was led by first-baseman Nainoa Aldueso who finished 2-for-4, and thirdbase-man Trevor Saiki, 1-3, who drove in a run on his double. Secondbaseman Robert Reaume ended 1-1 for Mililani B.
Taran Tani, 1-3, drove in Travis Koga for Lihu‘e’s sole run in the second inning as Mililani A wrapped up a 9-1 win behind a three-run homer from Chase Yamada, the catcher going 3-for-3 in the win.
Cameron Lalau, 2-4, Joshua Braithwaite, 1-4, Mike Asamura, 1-2, and Pascual, 1-3, each came up with RBI for Mililani.
