WAILUA — The weather cooperated as groups of youngsters celebrating spring break were greeted by an array of inflatables set up adjacent to the Kamalani Playground at Lydgate Park yesterday.
Zack Harder of Aloha Keiki Inflatables said the arrangement is a fundraiser for the KIDS School (Kauai Independent Daycare Services, Inc.) in Kapa‘a, and he will have his inflatables on hand through tomorrow, Wednesday, March 23, setting up by 9 a.m. and running through 5 p.m. both days
“But, I can stay later,” he said. “It all depends on how many kids are around at 5 p.m.”
“It’s spring break, so what would you like to do,” Phyllis Correa of Waimea asked her grandson Ka‘ikea. “We don’t need to substitute teach, so what would you like to do?”
“Play on the wood playground,” was Ka‘ikea’s reply, and when the Waimea family reached Lydgate Park, they were greeted by the inflatable setup, much to Ka‘ikea’s pleasant surprise.
Rates are flexible, Harder said. There are rates for single-use, or for intervals up to a full-day.
“Earlier this morning, there was a whole bunch of kids here,” Harder said. And, when the word gets out, more kids will come, he said.
Harder, whose son Kalena is a student at KIDS School, said he started the inflatable business after spending a long time in construction.
He said he has another infant son, but he’ll get to KIDS School eventually.
“The kids, they love it,” Harder said as he collected more tokens for admission onto the trio of water slides.
