Beginning yesterday, residents and visitors can get their nickle deposits back for each beverage container marked with “HI 5¢” or “Hawaii 5¢.”
Deposits are available for glass, aluminum, and plastic beverage containers, including those previously containing soda, beer, juices, water, teas, and sports drinks. Excluded beverages are wine, milk and hard liquor.
Deposits are available at the following certified redemption centers (they are closed today, Sunday, Jan. 2):
Reynolds Recycling, 5675B Kawaihau Rd., Kapahi (near Menehune Food Mart), Tuesday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed from noon to 1 p.m.);
Reynolds Recycling, 02-3687 Kaumuali‘i Hwy., Lawa‘i (next to Lawa‘i post office), Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (closed from noon to 1 p.m.);
Garden Isle Disposal, 2666 Niumalu Rd., Niumalu, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed from noon to 1 p.m.), Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon.
Reynolds Recycling, corner of Wilcox and Kanoa streets, Nawiliwili (adjacent to the Honsador Lumber yard, formerly Hale Kauai), Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed from noon to 1 p.m.).
