Hawai‘i coach undergoes surgical procedure
HONOLULU — Hawai‘i men’s basketball coach Riley Wallace was in the hospital recovering from a surgical procedure performed Wednesday. Wallace, 63, said he underwent an angioplasty, with a stint inserted in his right coronary artery to improve blood flow. “The doctors said if everything checks out, I’ll be out of here tomorrow morning and be ready to go on Friday,” Wallace said from Kaiser Permanente Medical Center. “Everything went great,” he said. “All the procedures have improved since my first one, and the recovery time is much quicker.”
The coach, who is in his 18th season, had a similar procedure performed in 1998 when a stint was inserted in his left artery.
