The Garden Island newspaper and Zonta Club of Kauai are again asking the community to help make the holidays brighter for needy senior citizens, children and families. For over 30 years, The Garden Island/Zonta Christmas Fund has been helping Kaua‘i families thanks to the generosity of Kaua‘i residents and visitors. Donations help Christmas Fund volunteers purchase gift certificates and gift cards that are distributed to families and individuals. Because of the logistical problems in distributing donated items, only monetary donations can be accepted.
Manuel needs meals
Manuel is a 70-year-old gentleman who suffers from multiple illnesses. He lives alone in an elderly housing complex on the Westside. Because of his illnesses he is unable to prepare the simplest meals. He counts on friends and family to assist him. A gift certificate to assist him in purchasing ready-made meals (TV dinners, etc.) would be greatly appreciated by Manuel, and help him tremendously.
Mrs. Sunshine needs a new outfit
Mrs. Sunshine lives all alone. Several years ago, she suffered a stroke, but despite this, she is alert and independent.
She still loves to read and watch TV during the day.
A new outfit for the holidays would surely brighten the season for this amazing woman.
Donations may be mailed to The Garden Island/Zonta Christmas Fund, P.O. Box 1120, Kapa‘a, HI 96746. For more information, please contact Dimples Kano at 822-9882.
