Pop warner: Lihu‘e gets patriotic against Kapa‘a

The first touchdown was on a fumble recovery by Kai Dela Cruz with 3:59 in the first quarter. Kai Dela Cruz took the ball and went 37 yards for the score, the point after failed and the score was Lihu’e Patriots-6 and the Kapa’a Eagles-0.
Second touchdown of the game came on a 15 yard pass play from Christian Fort to Kai Dela Cruz, extra point kick by Taran Tani was good and the score was Lihu’e Patriots (PW)-14 and Kapa’a Eagles (PW)-O.
The third score came on a 7 yard run by quarterback Christian Fort. This score came with 2:43 on the clock in the second quarter. Score was Lihu’e Patriots (PW)-20 and Kapa’a Eagles-(PW)-O. The next touchdown came within seconds of the third touchdown when Cameron Largusa picked up the ball on the 36 yard line and raced into the end zone for the score. Kick by Kalen Kimura was good and the score was now Lihu’e Patriots (PW)-28 and Kapa’a Eagles (PW)-O.
At this point the clock became a running clock, and the Eagles took the ball. The final score of the game came on a run by Landyn Perreira who took the ball and raced 53 yards for the score. The extra point failed and the score stood at Lihu’e Patriot (PW)-34 and Kapa’a Eagles (PW)-O.
Great defense by both teams kept the score down. Lihu’e Patriots Pee Wee’s are undefeated as of this game.
JPW: Kapa‘a 0, Kekaha 0
The second quarter was a defensive struggle. The ball moved between the 50 yard line and the 20 yard line. The game progressed and both teams got into a “dog fight,” with no scoring but a lot of defense. Offense between the goal lines were hard fought, both teams’ offense attempted several times to break the plane of the goal line with negative results.
Defensive plays by Brentten Rapozo, Jakey Alves, Treston Brede, Keane Agoot, Kainalu Akiona and Earl Thronas and the rest of the Eagles played one fine defensive game.
Also, Dustyn De Silva managed to keep the “O” line steady against the Panther attack. Kekaha also had some key players on defense; they were Paul Udarbe, Acetyn Emayo, Kaimana Jose, Austin Cun-Lara and a whole host of Kekah’a Panthers.
Score for this game ended up in a scoreless tie, both teams played a tough defensive game, both were unable to score.
Midgets: Kekaha 32, Kapa‘a 0
In the first quarter with 1:57 on the clock, Kekah’as Kailen Malama scored on a 3 yard plunge over the middle for the score. The point after was kicked by Bully Pancho, and the kick was good, making the score Kekaha Chargers-8 Kapa’a Eagles (M)-O.
The second quarter saw some rain and mud, then the sun came out and the game moved on into less muddier fields. Jayrald Watanabe scored on a 30 yard run around the left side of the Kekaha line. The extra point attempt by Bully Pancho was good and the score was Kekaha Chargers- 16 and Kapa’a Eagles (M)-O.
In the third quarter with 2:33 on the clock, Kekaha’s Max Agor scored from five yards out, the point after was kicked by Bully Pancho, making the score, Kekaha Chargers-24 and the Kapa’a Eagles (M)-O.
With 3:24 on the clock in the fourth quarter, Jayrald Watanabe scored on a one yard dive up the middle for the score. The extra point by Bully Pancho was good and the score was now Kekaha Chargers-32 and the Kapa’a Eagles (M)-O.
At this point the game clock became a running clock with the Kapa’a Eagles taking the ball and trying to make something of the game.
Midgets: Koloa 30, Northshore 0
The scoring in this game started in the first quarter with 6:06 on the clock, Hilton Delima-Kamai, took the ball in from the one yard line for the score, the extra point was kicked by Dawson Okinaka and the kick was good.
The score was now Koloa Raiders-8, Northshore Na Ali’i (M)-O.
The next score came with 40 seconds on the clock in the first quarter, Hilton Delima-Kamai ran the ball in for the score, and the extra point failed.
The score stood at Koloa Raiders-14 and the Na Ali’i (M)-O.
In the second quarter Koloa took the ball and marched it down the field, with 2:17 on the clock, Reggie Vigilia took the ball and rumbled into the end zone from 7 yards out. The extra point by Dawson Okinaka was good and the score stood at Koloa Raiders-22 and Northshore Na Ali’i (M) 0. In the third quarter with 23 seconds left on the clock, Koloa’s Dawson Okinaka, took the ball in on a 3 yard run.
The extra point was kicked by Dawson Okinaka, and the score was good, making the score Koloa Raiders-30 and the N.S. Na Ali’i (M)-O.
JPW: Koloa 25, Northshore 6
The next game was between the Koloa Packers (JPW) and the Northshore Na Ali’i (JPW).
Koloa Packers started the scoring in the first quarter of the game with a score by Tanner Rivera who took the ball and went 7 yards into the end zone for the score, this score came with 7:15 on the clock.
The run for the extra point failed and the score was Koloa Packers-6 and the Northshore Na Ali’i (JPW)-O.
The second score came with 6:57 on the clock in the first quarter on a 30 yard interception by Cameron Twiggs.
Extra point by Chyson Goias was good, and the score was now Koloa Packers- 13 and Northshore Na Ali’i (JPW)-O.
In the third quarter of the game, Koloa scored again, this time on a 60 yard run by Kalei Fujita, the point after failed and the score was now Koloa Packers-19, Northshore Na Ali’i (0). The game continued on the muddy slick field with Northshore trying to get the ball close to the end zone only to be denied by the Packers stiff defense.
Defensive plays by Rajan Baliaris, Kaawa Solomon, Kawika Wellington, Josiah Enrigue, Jonathan Yam, Kaena Kuhulua played a stand out game on defense.
Na Ali’i just could not get on track with the wet field and failed to convert.
In the fourth and final quarter the Packers scored on a 45 yard run by Kalei Fujita, who raced into the end zone for the final Koloa score.
Koloa Packers-25 after the extra point failed.
The Na Ali’i (JPW) was unable to score at this point.
In the closing minutes of the game, the Northshore Na Ali’i’s finally punched one into the end zone.
Na Ali’is Rajan Ballaris took the ball and went 33 yards for the score, the point after failed and the score ended with Koloa Packers-25 and the Northshore Na Ali’i (JPW)-6.
JPW: Koloa 30, Northshore 7
The scoring in this game started with Kolo’a Rams’ Mikey Blackstad taking the ball on a four yard run for the score.
The extra point was a pass from Keanu Palama to Branden Scovel and that extra pointy pass was good, the score now was Koloa Rams-7 and Northshore Na Ali’i (PW)-0.
The next score came on a 39 yard run by Torrey Santiago, the point after was by Mikey Blackstad on a run, and the score was good.
Score was now Koloa Rams-14 and the Northshore Na Ali’i (PW)-O.
In the second quarter with 3:54 on the clock, Koloa’s Torrey Santiago took off on a 30 yard run and scored.
The extra point kick by Ross Ozaki was good, with the score now, Koloa Rams-22 Northshore Na Ali’i (PW)-O.
With a 1:21 left on the clock in the second quarter, Jake Corona returned a block punt for 20 yards and the score.
The point after was kicked by Ross Ozaki and the kick was good, making the score Koloa “Westside” Rams-28 and the Northshore Na Ali’i (JPW)-O.
Na Ali’i’s Darren Taylor scored the lone touchdown for the Northshore Na Ali’i’s on a 50 yard run. Taylor, ran for the extra point and he converted making the score now, Koloa “Westside” Rams-28 and the Na Ali’i (JPW)-7.
In the final minutes of the game, with 1:29 on the clock in the fourth quarter, Kaulana Waalani-Arroyo tackled the Northshore Na Ali’i quarter back in the end zone for a two point touch back.
The score was now Koloa “Westside” Rams-30 and Na Ali’i (JPW)-7, this would be the final score of the game.
JPW: Hanapepe 15, Lihu‘e 6
The Hanapepe Colts (JPW) and the Lihu’e Patriots (JPW) played under a clear and sunny sky although the field was still a little muddy from the night before (Saturday).
The first score of the day came in the third quarter.
For the first three quarters both teams had a defensive battle, no scores, just defense, hard fought defense.
With a minute and twenty-seven seconds on the clock in the third quarter, the Hanapepe Colts broke the plane of the end zone when Clifton Callejo raced 34 yards for the score. The extra point kick by Dallas Correa was good and the score was Hanapepe Colts (JPW)-8 and the Lihu’e Patriots (JPW)-O.
In the fourth quarter with 4:11 on the clock, the Hanapepe Colts (JPW) Keoni Ana dived in from the half yard line for the score, the extra point was run in on a broken play and the score was now Colts-15 and the Patriots-0.
With time running out on the Lihu’e Patriots in the fourth quarter, the Patriots went to the passing game and scored with a pass from Travis Koga to John Das on a 44 yard play.
Midgets: Hanapepe 16, Lihu‘e 16
The first score of this game came in the first quarter with six seconds left on the clock. Michael-Alan Gaspar of the Hanapepe Colts (M) took the ball on a hand-off around the left side of the line for 15 yards and high stepped into the end zone for the first score.
The extra point was kicked by James Delos Reyes making the score Hanapepe Colts-8 and the Lihu’e Patriots0.
Our next score was by Llhu’e Patriots (M) Pono Matthews, who took the ball around t he left side of the offensive line and raced 26 yards into the end zone for the score.
Pono Matthews also kicked the extra point to make the score, Lihu’e Patriots (M)-8 and the Hanapepe Colts (M)-8.
The second half began with some hard hitting between both teams.
Donovan Refamonte scored on a 27 yard pass from Pono Matthews, the extra point was kicked by Pono Matthews and the kick was good.
The score ended up Hanapepe Colts (M)-8 and Lihue Patriots (M)-16.
The next score came in the third quarter when Hanapepe’s James Delos Reyes scored on a 45 yard run.
The extra point was also kicked by James Delos Reyes and that kick was good making the score, Hanapepe Colts (M)-16 and the Lihu’e Patriots (M)-16
The fourth quarter was a defensive battle with both teams moving on the goal line, but no one was able to punch the ball in until the closing seconds of the game when Lihu’e Patriots (M) intercepted and tried to move the ball on the ground, but were unable to convert the interception to points.
Game ended with the score Hanapepe Colts (M)-16 and Lihu’e Patriots (M)-16.
Games will be at the Hanapepe Stadium next weekend, November 6 & 7.
