An Eagle Scout Court of Honor was recently held for Benjamin Kimura of Varsity Team 270, chartered by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kalaheo Ward.
Kimura started out as a Cub Scout in Pack 270, and earned the Arrow of Light Award, the highest award in Cub Scouting.
Kimura did his Eagle project for Kalaheo School. He worked with Addie Fleming, his sixthgrade teacher, to provide wheels for 12 bookcases, and built two picnic tables for the older-students’ section of the school.
The bookcases were for three classrooms, and the wheels were donated by Kalaheo Flowers. Regency Development donated the lumber, and Myrian Barino donated the paint for the picnic tables.
Charles Ortiz, an Eagle Scout and past scoutmaster, presented the Eagle award to Kimura, who acknowledged support and help he received from his parents, leaders, and fellow Scouts.
Kimura is the son of Merv and Carol Kimura. Special guests were Kimura’s grandmothers, Marion Knuth from Bountiful, Utah, and Yaeko Kimura from Kalaheo.
His sister and brother -in-law, Julie and Jarom Brizzee, from Provo, Utah, also participated in the ceremony.
Kimura is a 2004 graduate of Kaua‘i High School, and is attending Brigham Young University- Provo.
