Motiv-8 Ha‘aheo U10 and Motiv-8 Po‘okela U12 girls returned from participating in the Wolfpack Invitational Soccer Tournament held in Hunington Beach, California recently.
“It was their wish to go to the mainland and they worked very hard fundraising for the trip,” Janise Gusman, one of the parents said.
With the many car washes and the portugese sausage and world’s finest chocolate fundraisers, the team was able to come together and make their dream become a reality.
“The girls even washed girls up until the last week,” Gusman said.
Most of the parents were also able to attend the tournament and helped their children throughout the whole process, so a lot of credit should go to the parents as well.
“We try to go off-island at least once a year and our next trip should be in November,” Gusman said.
Ha‘aheo went 1-2 and Po‘okela picked a 0-2-1 record against tough California teams. The squads also visited Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Disneyland, and California Adventure Park. The girls would like to thank the many people who supported them through the many fundraising efforts.
Motiv-8 Ha‘aheo is coached by Bobbie Rapozo and assisted by Tiger Chang. Motiv-8 Po‘okela is coached by Kevin Gusman.
