Representatives of the ARC of Kauai recently received $52,972 from the Antone & Edene Vidinha Charitable Trust, and will use the funds to fix up a classroom building in Lihu‘e.
Representatives from the trust, Phil Scott and Tad Miura Jr., were on hand to present the check to Ellen Ching, executive director, and Jamie Chong, executive administrative assistant, from the ARC of Kauai. The ARC of Kauai provides a variety of programs and services to children and adults with developmental disabilities. These islandwide services are coordinated and delivered through two multipurpose services centers, one located in Lihu‘e and one located in Kapa‘a. The money will be used to renovate and restore the Ford Coffman Center, which is located in Lihu‘e and is open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. “Most of the classrooms are down to the bare boards, so we are anxious to start on replacing the flooring, the bathroom repairs, and roofing renovations,” said Ching.
