Henry Herman Rothschild died quietly at home surrounded by family on the evening of Aug. 4, 2004.
Born in Cologne, Germany in 1920, he came to America as a 16 year old, escaping the Nazi peril. He fought with the U.S. Army in World War II, landing at Normandy on D-Day+3.
A restaurateur in Washington, D.C. for 25 years, he retired to Florida, then moved to Kaua‘i in 2002 to be with family.
Henry is best remembered for his sense of humor and love for his wife of 61 years. He’s survived by his beloved Ilse, daughter Sharon, grandsons Darren and Nyle of Princeville, and son Frank of Kilauea. Arrangements were handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
