A video showing: “Walking Through Hanapepe Town — Part II,” featuring a talk-story session with Gwen Hamabata, is today, Tuesday, Aug. 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hanapepe United Church education hall (next to the Hanapepe Public Library).
Hanapepe has many fine, historic buildings that deserve attention, and many interesting stories and facts to share about the people and their unique history, Hamabata said.
Members of the Hanapepe Economic Alliance have received a grant to develop an accurate historic map of Hanapepe town.
This project could energize a new effort to bring more residents and visitors to see and relive the history of Hanapepe town, Hamabata and others feel.
The project’s volunteers will work to include historic and cultural values of the area.
A historic Hanapepe walking tour could bring acknowledgment and appreciation of the town’s rich heritage.
The focus of the project is to develop an accurate historic map of Hanapepe town.
The goal of today’s meeting is to encourage community input for map accuracy.
Members of Hanapepe Economic Alliance want people to come to the meeting with their ideas, photographs, stories of old Hanapepe buildings, and/or willingness to serve on a Hanapepe Walking Tour Committee?
