Hats off to Albert Soto, Pat Baniaga, and ALL (!!!) the hard-working ‘ohana for putting on the Kaua‘i Fantasy Tournament! Michael Koerte took time off from work since he had to coordinate umpires for this tournament, and right on the heels of this one, goes into the Carlsbad Goodwill tournament starting Sunday night.
Tim Ware (he was a wide receiver for the Raiders at one time, too!) and his Vista Blue 14 Under team from the San Diego area was having a blast – it helped that they were well on their way to winning all of their opening day games, too! Out on the streets of Waimea, Kiichi Fujii had the answer to beating the heat as he passed with his afternoon shopping from Ishihara Market, but returned with a can of Pepsi for Brian Yamase who was busy with his weeder (recycled kitchen knife) in the newlyplanted grass fronting the library.
That spot in front of Jojo’s Clubhouse was great for finding all kinds of people – congratulations to Dave and Rebecca Nicholls of London who just got married and are spending their honeymoon in Kekaha! Sarah Ackley of Phoenix, AZ and her parents Terry and Marcy found the shave ice perfect for beating the Waimea heat, although they said it’s a lot hotter in Arizona.
An appreciative Kurt Toma of the Kekaha Pop Warner Association said somehow they always have entertainment as he had their whole crew watching the Vista Blue warm up while waiting on Wanda Shibata, Millie Wellington, and Eldean Scott of Young Brothers who presented them a grant Thursday.
OK – ‘nuff said…it’s time to check out the kickoff for the Koloa Plantation Days at the Sheraton Kaua‘i!
