For help with paddle to Ni‘ihau and back
On behalf of Donna Kahiwaokawailani Kahakui and Kai Makana, we would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the many Kaua‘i people who took a stand in supporting her. The generosity and countless demonstrations of Kaua‘i’s aloha allowed her to complete a truly heroic and amazing paddle to raise awareness for the need for clean oceans. Donna successfully completed nearly 200 miles of paddling from O‘ahu to the south point of Ni‘ihau, and in doing so linked the major Hawaiian islands.
Her Web site is kaimakana.org.
We would like to thank some of the many Kaua‘i volunteers and businesses whose generosity made this project a reality.

Signatures for tax-relief amendment
On behalf of the members of Ohana Kauai and the many volunteers who helped us gather signatures, we wish to sincerely thank the over 3,300 citizens who signed our petition to get the tax-relief charter amendment put on the ballot in November.
The required number of signatures needed was 1,870, so we are grateful for the overwhelming support that was given.
Now, we only ask that all registered voters on Kaua‘i go to the polls in November to insure its passing.
