The state government spent over $43 million last year fighting asthma.
Grandmaster Hong Liu and leaders of his Natural Healing Research Foundation are offering workshops and classes to teach natural healing and selfhealing techniques for asthma sufferers as well as for those with other diseases, as part of his and his foundation’s mission to provide complementary and integrative approaches for health.
It is hoped that this effort, which is being offered free of charge to all interested, will make a contribution to the health of the people on Kaua‘i, he said.
Students, clients, and their families and friends are invited to participate in the asthma humanitarian event, “Three Special Days for Effective Results,” set for Tuesday, July 20, Friday, July 30, and Monday, Aug. 9.
All sessions are at 10 a.m. at the Wilcox Elementary School cafeteria in Lihu‘e.
The events will mark the first time Liu brings this type of seminar to the Western world, organizers said.
Asthma, allergies, chronic bronchitis, sinus problems, and lung disease have been treated for over 3,000 years in the natural healing tradition of Chinese medicine, Liu said.
It has been 80-percent effective based on historical experience, and uses a special method that is economic and simple, he added.
A rare opportunity is being offered by Liu for the Western world to experience this energy work.
There are only a few days in the calendar year when this method can be used, as it is related to the rhythms of universal, earth and personal energies.
The dates this year are the dates of the Lihu‘e events.
Participants should attend all three days for extremely effective results, he said.
Those with lung cancer and other lung-related problems are encouraged to participate.
Participants must be ages 10 or older.

Governor Linda Lingle recently proclaimed Grandmaster Hong Liu Day, while both were on Kaua‘i at the Sheraton Kauai Resort in Po‘ipu.
Lingle also thanked Liu for selecting Hawai‘i as the home of a new international natural healing center, possibly to be located on Kaua‘i, and described how such a center ties in with her administration’s efforts to provide quality health care for all Hawai‘i residents.
Liu also this year was named a “living treasure” by the state Legislature, as he had been named earlier in his native China, and is renowned as a “visionary global healer.” He was honored by the state Legislature for his knowledge of Eastern and Western traditions and conventional and non-conventional medicine, and for his vision, profound compassion, and being the embodiment of the aloha spirit.
Liu has reached the highest attainable level in Qi Gong, a 5,000-year-old, natural-healing practice from China.
A Western-trained physician, he brings to Hawai‘i a powerful lineage that bridges medical science with natural healing, followers said.
Liu is the guiding force in the creation of a community center for natural healing and radiant health in Hawai‘i.
His Natural Healing Research Center will unite healing traditions from around the world, and offer programs addressing the needs of Hawai‘i, including an ice-rehabilitation program; natural-healing approaches for common diseases including cancer, diabetes, and heart disease; and free programs for the children and elderly.
His program of cohesive documentation, research, and instruction of Native Hawaiian healing practices perpetuates and honors Hawai‘i’s cultural legacy, followers said.
