Airport guard replies
I would like to respond to Dr. W. Wood’s letter in your editorial “Rude Airport Guard,” dated Monday June 21, 2004.
Dr. Wood and I are both professionals. Dr. Wood failed to mention the relevants at issue. I in my profession protect lives and properties for whom I serve. At issue is the security and safety of all concerned. Failure to comply with airport rules and regulations will result in action by any security guard.
Dr. Wood also failed to mention that he was parked in an unauthorized area, while complaining to airline associates of his lost luggage.
He also complained of coming to Hawai‘i and its Locals.
If I am of this beautiful and wonderful island, who is the ugly and rude one?
Since Mr. Wood mentioned that he was visiting our island for the fifth straight year. He should know by now where to park.

Driving hazard
Whenever I am driving after 7 p.m., I notice that more than 50% of the drivers do not have their headlights on or just use their parking lights. I have called the Mayor’s office twice about this matter and I still have no response as to what actions could be taken, other than it was probably forwarded to the police department.
I am not blaming any specific age group, but it least it could be emphasized at driver’s education.
Somehow, the public has to become more aware of this simple rule of driving rather than concerning themselves with which hand to hold their cellphones.
