Young Brothers helps Kaua‘i Sports Foundation
The Young Brothers Community Advisory Board provided a boost for the Kaua‘i Sports Foundation (KSF) with a presentation of a grant that will be used to provide nutrition education during the Motiv 8’s summer sports clinics and programs.
President Gordon Yee and coach Todd Fuerte were clearly excited about the grant as they formulated plans utilizing the skills of Colleen McCracken, a nutritionist at the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital and one of the parents of Motiv8 team players.
The implementation of healthy lifestyles and choices into their program will complement the athletic and sports clinics towards the goal of advancing the total athlete.
A three-fold mission guides KSF whose goal is to positively impact the community’s youth and their families through sports-based activities.
KSF hopes that by engaging youth in on-going, wholesome sports activities, organizers hope to reduce their exposure to drugs and substance abuse as well as provide information to help youth make healthier and wiser choices to direct their energies.
To enhance this goal, KSF works to provide resources to improve access to sports activities and programs as well as remove obstacles by assistance in subsidizing program fees, uniforms, and team travel as well as assisting in acquiring proper and safe sports equipment.
